Noise
Ratings Sound is measured in decibels, most fan brochures include a noise level (say xx dB). If you are comparing different brands or models, the distance from the fan that the reading is taken makes a big difference. A reading taken at 1 metre is going to be louder than one at 3 metres. The quoted figures are measured in lab conditions and the surroundings make a big difference to the perceived level in your home. Carpet on the floor and curtains help to reduce some of the reflections off the walls, and hence it appears quieter than a hard room. The fan should be no closer than 2 duct diameters from the end grille, in order to give the airflow a chance to straighten out and reduce turbulence losses. Fan noise is largely dependent on the air velocity through the grilles, so most solutions involve reducing the air speed, and larger ducting and grilles, or multiple inlets usually do this. Generally, the noise is also proportional to the amount of airflow and the fan speed. | ||

Down Jet Ceiling Diffuser 150mm diameter, with removable centre and damper included, fitted with fixing spring loaded clips. Down Jet - sends warm air down to your feet. When warm air is delivered into a room using conventional ceiling diffusers, it rises before reaching the floor, resulting in warm air at head height and cold air at your feet. The Down Jet sends warm air right down to the floor. This is far more efficient than conventional diffusers at delivering heat. |

Interlock flexible ducting
is a robust, durable lightweight air duct, whilst being ultra flexible, it
maintains its full diameter through the tightest of bends, allowing ease
of installation in the most awkward of situations. When correctly
installed (i.e. correct length is used to avoid corrugations in its
length) resistance to airflow is minimised. Kits include either 3m or 6m length, extra lengths available. Manufactured in Christchurch by Airflow Engineering. |
